Kate Middleton noticeably Skinny on Canada Visit

Canadians have been following Kate Middleton ever since the Royal Engagement was announced. When the Royal Couple finally visited Canada in July of 2011, Kate Middleton was noticeably much skinnier than before. In fact, the royal princess who is 5 ft 10 inches tall, went from 130 pounds to 110 pounds, from a size 8 to size 2, looking fit and trim for the Royal wedding and the Royal official visit to Canada.

Is losing 20 pounds indeed too much or just enough? Royal watchers now worry that Kate Middleton might in fact be bordering anorexic behaviour as a result of losing weight too fast.

“You only need look at the pictures from the current visit to Canada to see that she really has lost a lot of weight and that she’s bordering on anorexia,” Fabiola De Clercq, founder of Italy’s Association for the Study and Research of Anorexia, told India.tv.

“As happens increasingly often in the case of fashion models, the young duchess’s appearances risk becoming an advert for anorexia,” De Clerq added.

One way of measuring the ideal weight is the Body Mass Index. Body mass index (BMI) is the measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. You have a better chance of living a long and healthy life if your BMI is between 20 and 24. Simply divide your height by weight to get your body mass index. Here is an online calculator for measuring Body Mass Index in both English and Metric measurements.

BMI Categories:
Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
Overweight = 25-29.9
Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater
below 16 = serious anorexia
16-17,4 =underweight, anorexia

Note that Kate Middleton’s Body Mass Index is now at 17.2 which means she is underweight, and can stand to gain a little bit of weight and still looks attractive. Very well-trained people can have a somewhat higher BMI than other’s without being overweight.
