She is the daughter of middle-class Canadian Korean immigrants. Her father is a Canadian-Korean businessman and her mother, a bio-chemist. Coming from a family of scientists, lawyer and academics, she broke the mould of a typical Canadian-Korean family, by going into movies. She applied the same hardworking ethics of Canadian immigrant families but into a different field, and succeeded. Grace Harbour Apple Cobbler


This is a truly Canadian recipe made with hand picked crabapples, plums and berries from an abandoned homestead at Grace Harbour in Desolation Sound Marine Park made to an apple-berry cobbler. Crab apples are sour when eaten fresh, yet when baked, gives a sweet tangy taste. Easy to make, healthy and full of nutrients. Can be served warm with ice cream topping. Tortang Giniling – Ground Pork Omelette


This is a Canadian-Filipino variation of an omelette. Torta means omelette or pie and Giniling means ground. Tortang Giniling in this case is a pork omelette. A good variation from the usual North American Ham and Cheese omelette and hash browns. If you like eggplant, try the Tortang Talong Giniling (Eggplant and Pork Omelette), another variation using the long Asian eggplant. read more

In the movie “The Proposal” starring Ryan Reynolds, a 32 year old Canadian actor from Vancouver, (he is the real-life husband of Scarlet Johanssen).
