Inukshuk Blog Award for edutainment

edutainment-award-2009We are proud to present our own award to a favourite blog that has made a big impression on us.

The award is for Edutainment.  For those who are unfamiliar with edutainment, it is a concept about combining education with entertainment, making it easy and fun to learn.

Jeannie from Taiwan has been posting blogs on her site on blogspot called “easy way to learn Chinese”, using music, karaoke fun and animation to teach the Chinese language.

We, at the No. 1 Canadian Blog  admire her dedication to the blog and really appreciate her efforts.

This is her site address:  http://easywaytolearnchinese.blogspot.com

For those who are unfamiliar with what the Inukshuk mean or what it is all about, here is a background story about the Inukshuk:

Inukshuk (ee-nook-shook or ee-nook-sook) is an Inuktitut word that means to look like a person (an Inuk).   They are stone monuments erected in the image of humans and have been used by the Inuit people of Canada to mark high points of land, good hunting and fishing spots or the way home.

Inuit have been building Inuksuit (ee-nook-soo-eet / plural) for thousands of years.   They were a tool of survival and symbolizes the unselfish act of a nomadic people, – the Inuit – who built them as markers and signposts to make the way easier for those who followed.

olympic-inukshukThe Inukshuk image has been chosen by Canada to be the 2010 Winter Olympics to held in Vancouver.  We also picked the Inukshuk as our symbol for the blogs we like.

A blog that has received our Inukshuk award is a way of us marking the blogs we like and sharing this to the blog community.

  1. Chinese is a difficult language to learn, and anything that can make it fun is certainly welcomed. In progressive countries, Mandarin is becoming a “must learn” second language. After all, almost one-fifth of the world’s population speak Chinese.

  2. Oh Wow~~~~~that’s a certain surprise and an encouragement for me! I appreciate it! The post looks awesome to me. Thanks a lot!

I will make a post about this as well.
Can I post that Inukshuk Award image on my blog?

I’d love to answer your questions if you have any.
    Thanks again!
    Jeannie
